Romania win neighbours’ duel to claim EHF EURO Cup 2026 bronze
The match was a roller-coaster ride at full speed for some time, while in the other part Romania looked dominant — and, finally, the hosts of the final tournament of the Women's EHF EURO Cup 2026 celebrated the bronze medal with their fans. Being the better team from minute 20, Romania took a well-deserved 33:30 victory against Hungary, despite 11 goals from top scorer Katrin Klujber. In crunch time, Romanian goalkeeper Bianca Curment became the crucial factor.
The first half was going back and forth with a high pace, but in the last minutes we allowed Romania to come back as we did not do on what we had agreed on. Right after the break, we really played badly. After Romania scored four in a row we improved, but in that 10 minutes’ period we lost too much energy to turn the match around. When Romania were ahead by three again we did not have the power anymore.
We played much better today, though we had some difficult moments in the match, but we managed to cope with them this time. We finally found the balance in the team, as we used a bigger rotation, many good options came from the bench. In view on the EHF EURO, we got some good impressions today. We saw what quality this team has when it plays on top level.
