University Cooperations
University Partnerships
EHF has ongoing partnerships with different universities in Europe.
In cooperation with the German Sport University Cologne the European Handball Manager programme has been established in July 2015. The part-time programme is tailor-made for current and prospective managers in handball sports organisations, with modules focusing on areas such as economics, law, communication and psychology.
Under the lead of EHF Methods Commission member Carmen Manchado, the team at the University of Alicante is involved in scientific analysis of players' tracking data at EHF EURO events, which is provided by KINEXON. The university also provides an analysis tool to the coaches of the participating teams of the men's and women's EHF EUROs since the Men's EHF EURO 2020.
The University of Las Palmas provides consultation and technical assistance services in the field of education and training, such as assisting with teaching material for referees. The partnership began in 2009.
University Projects
In addition to university partnerships, several universities in Europe are working on projects with the EHF.
The University of Southern Denmark is analysing players' tracking data provide by KINEXON within the scope of doctoral research that aims to establish a sophisticated position-specific activity profile of top-level team handball matches, and to investigate possible performance fluctuations and the impact of fatigue on consecutive matches during the Men’s EHF EURO 2022.
For the M20 EHF EURO 2022 in Portugal the EHF and the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro developed a project to monitor players by using wearable tracking devices. The aim is to help coaches to better manage players’ efforts and recovery strategies.
The results of both projects were presented at the Scientific Conference 2023.
