NEWS REPORT: The European Handball Federation is involved in the European Commission initiative to promote sport and physical activity across Europe for the third year running

EHF supports the #BeActive European Week of Sport 2017

Following successful events in 2015 and 2016, the European Open Day of Handball will take place once again this year as a part of the #BeActive European Week of Sport on 23-30 September 2017.

The European Commission’s #BeActive initiative aims to promote sport and physical activity in a time where engagement in sport and physical activity is at an all-time low. In 2016, the campaign reached 200 million Europeans.

The EHF ‘European Open Day of Handball’ relies on handball-related activities from the 50 EHF member federations on a national, regional and local level. The EHF wants to involve as many handball players, children, parents and teachers as possible in handball-related activities.

A number of federations have already expressed an interest in hosting events and more are expected to join the initiative in the build up to 23 September.

How to get involved and #BeActive

Those interested can view which events are taking place in their country here. The amount of registered events and participating countries will increase over the coming weeks.

The EHF has donated two tickets to the VELUX EHF FINAL4 2018 to the #BeActive Challenge, which rewards creative photos and videos on social media with terrific prizes. Anyone can register to take part in the challenge here.
